HELLO EVERYBODY, I AM

Aygun Ismayilova

PhD Student

As a software developer with over four years of experience in the banking industry, I have developed a strong appreciation for the transformative power of technology in addressing real-world challenges. Driven by a desire to innovate and adapt to emerging technologies, I pursued a Master’s degree in MIAGE – Innovative Information Systems at Université Toulouse Capitole (France). This experience allowed me to expand my professional network, refresh my technical foundation, and build expertise in high-demand areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Agent-Based Modelling (ABM). Returning to academia also sparked a growing interest in the research. During my six-month internship in the environmental domain, I applied my IT skills to study the impact of traffic on the Urban Heat Island phenomenon. Faced with limited sensor data, I worked on generating synthetic populations and data to support simulation and analysis. This experience deepened my interest in modelling, simulation, and environmental applications, ultimately leading me to pursue a PhD at Université Grenoble Alpes, affiliated with LIG. My current research focuses on understanding human behavior during natural disasters, such as flash floods, and integrating these behavioral aspects into agent-based models to enhance the realism of simulations. In parallel, I adopt a participatory approach to the development process, involving stakeholders throughout. An ultimate outcome of my PhD is the creation of serious games designed to improve preparedness and support decision-making among end users.
